Irveta Aragon is a member of the Navajo Nation in New Mexico. Irveta was taught the ancient art of textile weaving from her mother and paternal grandmother. Her loom creations explore the designs and techniques she learned at an early age.
Irveta has served the interest of her nation by teaching weaving to her one of her two sons (Venancio Aragon). Irveta and her son create art together and have become the last practicing weavers in their family.
Irveta has begun teaching her art to her grandchildren in the hopes of creating the next generation of culture preservers. Each of her unique pieces reflect a strong tradition of family design fused with powerful and complex colors.
